Summer Break

Another cop out comic! I've been super busy getting everything done before we go to Nicaragua. I've got a few more strips written that I am hoping to get to over the next few days. This one took over a week and I did a really poor job on the inking. I'm going to get some Bristol paper to take with me to Nica, which should help.

Our collective's 12 Hour EP should be coming out soon and I'm super pumped about it, so stay tuned!

Was Stoked

I've been practicing my inked hand writing with these last two strips. I really need to slow down and take my time, but I get impatient and sloppy really easily. I'm hoping to do more drawing soon, and it helps that the school year is out next Tuesday, so no more after school program to deal with! Just drawing, music and background checks until we leave for Nicaragua.

Hooligans

The lack of comics lately is because I've been doing a lot of audio engineering work! Very excited to share what I've been up to when its done...

Also, my band Bombadil will be playing the Hopscotch Music Festival (awesome lineup for a hometown fest!) and Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion festivals in September, both of which I am very excited about! Get your tickets!

Quit It, Duck!

I can't decide if it was laziness or how darn cute Stewart is that made me make the last panel a photograph. Probably both.

Also, on an unrelated note, go check out Des Ark's "Don't Rock the Boat, Sink the F***er," its really awesome. The song "Bonne Chance Asshole" makes me miss Durham something fierce.

Operating Theory Number Two

This comic is a sequel, so please read this one first.

Honestly, I only have more questions after hearing this story. Why would the one neighbor get the offending sex toy if it was the other neighbor's fault? Why was the son worried his mom would blame him? Why blame emotional problems? Who's sex toy was it? I guess we'll never know...

All and all, I'm glad we left it out there, I knew something interesting would happen.

Too Much Information

This was posted and then Blogger got all jacked up and it disappeared. Here it is again!

Quick Draw

This one bit it in the blogger crash last month and I didn't notice and repost it. There might be some subconscious reason for that.

Wenatchee Apple Blossom Parade

I need practice drawing girls! Jeeeeeez! Also, sorry for the crappy scan job.

This one makes more sense if you know how I say "Oh Wow" (I blame this fact on hanging out with Daniel M. pretty much constantly for several years):

Future Politician

My strips have been a little kid heavy lately! Oh well. The lady and I are visiting her parents for the weekend, so hopefully I'll get some non-kid related material!

Charlie Brown

Dale

This one was fun to do. Lizzie and Steven's anniversary party was super fun too!

Here's a photo of Lizzie and Dale together, taken by the talented Liz Devine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lizdevine/5681201726/in/photostream

Uh-oh

Was getting a little tired of four squares, so wanted to try something different. This was fun to make, although not sure if I like it as much as one of the four square ones.

Pain

This was my first attempt at using ink wash. I like the effects it can have and the depth it can add to comics, but I definitely need more practice with the technique! Does anyone have a brush recommendation? I was really held back by the one I have.

Gross Pt. 2

Any other theories as to how it could have gotten there? Our yard is fenced in, and there is a tree in between us and the neighbors, so the kid would of had a hard time throwing it over here. Its like it dropped from the sky.

Gross

I drew this one this morning with the kids. I limited myself to 20 minutes, I think you can tell.

I guess this is kind of a rerun of the first strip...

I'm on a roll

Paleface doesn't look anything like that! This one was pretty much pointless...

I Made Another One!

I had so much fun making the comic yesterday that I decided to make one today. I walked down Hawthorne to the art store and got some art pens, which really made inking fun. Today was the first nice day of the spring, so I drew this in our rancho! It was a total tease for the summer. Two more months of rain until its nice everyday...

Its sad LCD Soundsystem is breaking up when I've never seen them before.

My First Comic Strip!

I made this this morning. This really happened. It was really fun to make, although I don't know when I'll do another one.

Photo Club Day 1

I am teaching a photography club for kinder-gardeners and first graders. Today's lesson was Portraits. This is my favorite shot.

Cool quotation

"...we are belonging to the universe of curves" - Christian Louboutin

Beefy Crunch

My favorite entry from Harper's Weekly this week:

A San Antonio man was embroiled in a three-hour armed standoff with police after he discovered that the price of a Taco Bell Beefy Crunch Burrito had risen from 99 cents to $1.49. "They did used to be 99 cents, but that was just a promotion," said restaurant manager Brian Tillerson.

Crazy Mix 2011

I made this track for this contest. The site challenged all takers to make an 80 second mix using the same 10 sound files. I sampled, chopped, and generally had a great time using Reaper and Reason.

It's interesting how different a lot of the entries are, and also some of the similar sounds that everyone gravitated too.

I hope to do this again next year.

Egypt is Free

Here's an experiment with samples, inspired by the revolution in Egypt. I played bass and percussion live, and used Reason for synths and vocorder. All of the samples are from an NPR piece.
